Progress

So for this week, its been a lot of planning, looking at things, and spending money. As I have not found a method of risographing, I have altered my printing method to screenprinting. Luckily, I stumbled upon this book, which is amazing and full of awesome work and VERY encouraging for my plan changes to screenprinting (scanned images to come on Monday). I did a bit of letterpress in Camberwell, and I think this book may have convinced me to continue learning more. I may begin taking classes and/or doing a sort of apprenticeship/ internship thing with a man in the area who does letterpress (thanks to the offer by Ellen).
Typically before diving into the drawing part of my projects I do a TON of resourcing. Right now I've got a book out of wood type alphabets and various biology/evolution/animal related books. I will probably take out 12 million books before this is all over.
In terms of carving away at the giant theme of SCIENCE, I have decided to focus on biology things, evolution and the idea of a bestiary. I think I'll be more excited to draw loads of animals and beardy naturalists/biologists rather than planets or whatever you draw for other kinds of science.
In terms of the money spending, I've decided to build myself a screen-printing area in my studio. Currently in the post there are hinge-clamps (screw em into the table to hold frames in one place and allow for lifting and registration), 2 16x20 nice screens and a 12" squeegee. I have a meeting with Nancy tomorrow to talk about studio access forms and what I'll be needing from her.
I will post images from my sketchbooks tomorrow during the day to this post.
Still on the look-out for a shop front to rent. I've got my eye on the #8 store in Nickel's Arcade, and I'm going to figure out who the realtor is sometime this week and try to establish some contact.
In other news, check out my personal blog and 'follow' it!
