I tried to develop the idea in details because it seemed little bit vague at that time. I did some more researches about Korean colors other than celadon and porcelain. Dancheong from Korean architecture was the first thing I looked at.

But those were not proper colors that I was looking for..
Then, I was fascinated by colors from Korean female costumes. They have various sophisticated tone-downed colors (sorry for the quality of images):

From these I made color palettes:




For the size of painting, my first idea was doing 9 of 24x24", but that seemed random for the concept. I decided to do in 24x96" vertically long canvases, which I got an inspiration from sleeves of the costume.

But I found these are also related to Korean traditional artworks and folding screen, which are vertically long too.
And I will make 20 paintings and choose five of them at the end.

These will have some rough textures and subtle patterns.
Now I am in process of making prototype in 12x48"(half-sized) and experimenting acrylic paints with rice and Korean mulberry paper.
+) another idea that I came up with recently:
Looking at the costume, I found these traditional ornament interesting.. especially the top patterns.

So I thought it would be interesting if these are added on the top of canvases.
