progress update

I'm really sorry for the late update. During the last three weeks, many parts of my idea have been changed. My initial idea was creating abstract mixed media painting, combining different factors(traditional&contemporary) such as colors from Korean celadon and rough textures like Yves Klien's pieces. Some samples that I made:

I tried to develop the idea in details because it seemed little bit vague at that time. I did some more researches about Korean colors other than celadon and porcelain. Dancheong from Korean architecture was the first thing I looked at.

and some studies:

But those were not proper colors that I was looking for..

Then, I was fascinated by colors from Korean female costumes. They have various sophisticated tone-downed colors (sorry for the quality of images):

(all costumes are done by Lee Young Hee)

From these I made color palettes:

For the size of painting, my first idea was doing 9 of 24x24", but that seemed random for the concept. I decided to do in 24x96" vertically long canvases, which I got an inspiration from sleeves of the costume.

But I found these are also related to Korean traditional artworks and folding screen, which are vertically long too.
And I will make 20 paintings and choose five of them at the end.

Final 20 colors:

These will have some rough textures and subtle patterns.

Now I am in process of making prototype in 12x48"(half-sized) and experimenting acrylic paints with rice and Korean mulberry paper.

+) another idea that I came up with recently:

Looking at the costume, I found these traditional ornament interesting.. especially the top patterns.

So I thought it would be interesting if these are added on the top of canvases.
For example:
