This past week was very productive. I learned how to mig weld and welded the legs for mydining table. I grinded-sanded-and waxed my steel legs. I then flipped my table over andjoined my legs to my table. Unfortunately when I did this I learned that my concrete pour wasn'tsuccessful. For some reason the concrete was coming apart from the wood. Something I didn't think would happen. After speaking to Jan I learned that because concrete emits heat and has water evaporate it causes issues when drying in between wood. This is because even though I purchased non shrink concrete the water in the concrete was quickly absorbed by the two pieces of wood it was sandwiched between causing major shrinkage. I also realized that my wood can expand and contract around 1/8" and concrete wont shift at all causing issues in the future if the pieces are permanently joined together. I have come up with a couple of solutions to solve this problem that i will test out in the future 2 wks. Here are some images of my project so far. Also, my samples of concrete canvas finally came! I placed an order for the 13mm cloth which will arrive in January.
